{"id":8368,"date":"2020-10-23T13:54:16","date_gmt":"2020-10-23T17:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=8368"},"modified":"2020-10-23T13:54:16","modified_gmt":"2020-10-23T17:54:16","slug":"weekly-word-october-23-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/weekly-word-october-23-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Word &#8211; October 23, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES,<\/p>\n<p>As we head into the last week of October, we continue to be amazed at the wonderful teaching and learning that is going on in our school each and every day.\u00a0 Thank you again to our supportive parents, our dedicated faculty, and to our incredible PVES students who are making our school year so successful.\u00a0 We are off to such a great start to this school year!<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, we will not be celebrating\u00a0Halloween\u00a0at PVES in our traditional way this year. We do not want to take risks with costume help, parading, food treats, and other festivities that might not go along with school social distancing guidelines that are in place at this time. However, we DO still plan to have student-centered fun in the\u00a0Halloween\u00a0theme!<\/p>\n<p>For this year, on\u00a0<u>Friday, October 30th<\/u>, we ask that all PVES staff and students follow these guidelines to make our elementary school\u00a0Halloween\u00a0celebrations both safe and festive for our students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; All students and staff are invited to wear clothes that are\u00a0<u>BLACK, ORANGE, or PURPLE<\/u>\u00a0in color.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; No costumes are allowed, but headbands, hats, necklaces,\u00a0Halloween\u00a0sweatshirts, t-shirts are fine!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; No food treats can be sent in from home or distributed in the classroom (including wrapped candy).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Goodie bags that are distributed to students (including pencils, stickers, etc.) must sit untouched in the classroom for\u00a0<u>3 days<\/u>\u00a0before being handed out to in-school and remote students.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; All classroom teachers will be given a set of\u00a0<u>white paper masks<\/u>\u00a0for in-school and remote students to decorate in class with crayons, colored pencils,\u00a0Halloween\u00a0stickers, etc.\u00a0 Students may wear these decorated masks throughout the day on October 30th.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; We hope to get back to our traditional parade by next year!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We thank you all for your cooperation with our classroom festivities for this year, and we hope you have a safe and happy\u00a0Halloween\u00a0at home. Please remember that the PVEF Trunk or Treat is taking place on Saturday, October 31<sup>st<\/sup>, at 11:00 AM in the PVMS parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>The busy month of November will be here soon, and our 1<sup>st<\/sup> Quarter Parent\/Teacher Conferences are quickly approaching.\u00a0 Brief Narrative Progress Reports will be distributed with these parent meetings.\u00a0 Schools will be closed for elementary students on Friday, November 13<sup>th<\/sup> for virtual parent conferences, and schools will dismiss at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 19<sup>th<\/sup> for evening virtual conferences.\u00a0 Special Area Teachers will be available during <u>both<\/u> the afternoon and the evening of Thursday, November 19<sup>th<\/sup> for virtual conferences (and on November 13<sup>th<\/sup> as well). The phone number is 845-528-8092.\u00a0 We look forward to this important communication.<\/p>\n<p>Please check the November calendar carefully.\u00a0 Schools will be closed on November 3<sup>rd<\/sup> for Superintendent\u2019s Conference Day, November 11<sup>th<\/sup> for Veteran\u2019s Day, November 13<sup>th<\/sup> for parent conferences, and November 25<sup>th<\/sup>, 26<sup>th<\/sup>, and 27<sup>th<\/sup>, for Thanksgiving. The 12:00 dismissal for parent conferences will take place on Thursday, November 19<sup>th<\/sup>.
