{"id":8278,"date":"2020-10-12T11:31:36","date_gmt":"2020-10-12T15:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=8278"},"modified":"2020-10-12T11:32:23","modified_gmt":"2020-10-12T15:32:23","slug":"weekly-word-october-12-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/weekly-word-october-12-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Word &#8211; October 12, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families,<\/p>\n<p>I hope that you are enjoying this long weekend.\u00a0 Although today is a rainy one, the fall weather in New York provides such a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fresh air, comfortable temperatures, and brilliant colors.\u00a0 Our elementary students have been getting outside for recess on almost every school day, and they have adjusted wonderfully to playing in their separate cohorts while wearing their masks. We are so proud of them!<\/p>\n<p>This week, our students will be participating in Fire Safety and Prevention lessons with the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department.\u00a0 We thank the PVFD for spending so much time at our school and engaging with our students in a safe and meaningful way.\u00a0 With social distancing, our children will be able to closely see a fire truck and learn many important safety tips about fire prevention.\u00a0 We thank our community members for partnering with us!<\/p>\n<p>We have a few important safety reminders about Parent Drop-off and Parent Pick-up at PVES.\u00a0 Please remember that in the morning, all students must exit the cars on the PASSENGER side of the car.\u00a0 This is extremely important for safety reasons.\u00a0 We also want to remind everyone that parents are NOT to exit their cars at any time.\u00a0 We must keep our arrival and dismissal safe and efficient, and social distancing practices must be kept in place.\u00a0 Also, in the afternoon for pick-up, when pulling up to the school, we ask that you have a VISIBLE SIGN in the front window showing your child\u2019s NAME and GRADE LEVEL.\u00a0 As the cars pull up to the school, our staff members can then quickly see your child\u2019s name and call for your child on the school radios.\u00a0 This keeps our process safe, quick, and stress-free for all.\u00a0 Thank you so much for your help with this!<\/p>\n<p>Our classroom teachers are now beginning to schedule virtual parent conferences for our conference dates in November.\u00a0 Please make sure that you sign up for these important first quarter conferences.\u00a0 It is also important for you to meet with any professional support service staff members who work with your child (Speech, ENL, AIS, Counseling, etc.) and any Special Area teachers (Art, Music, Band, Physical Education, Technology) with whom you would like to discuss your child\u2019s progress.\u00a0 Conference sign-up information will be sent to you via email soon.\u00a0 We thank you for your partnership and open, positive communication.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Chickery and I presented our School Re-opening PowerPoint at last week\u2019s Board of Education Meeting.\u00a0 If you were unable to view this meeting live, this presentation will be soon be visible on our website under the Board of Education tab, which will lead you to <u>Meeting Videos<\/u>.
