Dear Putnam Valley Community:<\/p>\n
Our schools are ready to open and we are anxiously awaiting the return of our students.\u00a0 As we welcome our students back into our classrooms, we recognize that their educational experience will be different from years past.\u00a0 Nobody knows exactly how productive the blend of in-person and remote learners in each classroom will function or how efficiently our split sections will operate, but everyone is ready and willing to continue to refine our practices until we reach something that works for all.\u00a0 In other words, there will certainly be some bumps along the way (especially in the first few weeks).\u00a0 We should all be prepared and understanding as we work our way through those challenges. One thing we know for sure is that it will take a true partnership between the school and the home to effectively support our students during these challenging times.\u00a0 Below are some of the topics that will require parental support.<\/p>\n
Home Health Screening:\u00a0<\/strong> All families are required to complete a home health screening each day before their child(ren) leaves for school.\u00a0 This screening must include a temperature check.\u00a0 If your child exhibits any of the symptoms related to COVID-19, they should be kept home from school.\u00a0 Students who continue to exhibit symptoms should be seen by a doctor and provide a note before returning to school.\u00a0 Parents will be periodically required to acknowledge that they are conducting a daily health screening and temperature check of their child(ren).<\/p>\n Daily Student Home Screening Form (one per child):<\/strong>\u00a0 https:\/\/forms.gle\/kLwJ7mC98qi1F2ca6<\/a><\/p>\n Symptomatic\/Sick Children:\u00a0<\/strong> Students who exhibit symptoms associated with COVID-19 must stay home from school and be cleared by a doctor and symptom-free before returning to school.\u00a0 Please review this CDC link for more detailed information:\u00a0 https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/if-you-are-sick\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n Student Participation and Attendance:<\/strong>\u00a0 Both remote and in-person learners are expected to be present and actively engaged in the learning tasks, ask questions, and virtually collaborate with classmates at home and in school.\u00a0 Students will also be required to complete a variety of self-directed and asynchronous activities. This way of learning is different and there must be a concerted effort between students, parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure its success. When working virtually on Google Meet, the “Chat” stream should be used only at the request of the teacher or to ask the teacher a question.<\/p>\n Prevention and Mitigation: \u00a0As we approach the holiday weekend, it is vital that everyone continue to practice the precautions that have proven to be effective to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.\u00a0 Face coverings and social distancing should continue to be observed by all; our ability to remain open to students will be dependent on the public\u2019s behavior outside of our schools.<\/p>\n Reinforce Healthy Practices at Home:<\/strong><\/p>\n Practice wearing a mask to build comfort<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Continue wearing a mask anytime social distancing cannot be maintained<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Obey social distancing when out in public<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Promote personal hygiene at home, use of hand sanitizer, and frequent hand washing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n We are all looking forward to a safe and healthy return to school.\u00a0 Please discuss the above expectations with your child and let us know if you have any questions.\u00a0 Collectively we can keep our schools open and our students and staff healthy.<\/p>\n Thank you,<\/p>\n Dr.\u00a0Jeremy Luft pvcsd.org<\/a> Reopening Plan \u2013 Estimada comunidad de Putnam Valley:<\/p>\n Nuestras escuelas est\u00e1n listas para abrir y estamos esperando ansiosamente el regreso de nuestros estudiantes.
