One thing we know for sure is that it will take a true partnership between the school and the home to effectively support our students during these challenging times. Below are some of the topics that will require parental support.

Home Health Screening: All families are required to complete a home health screening each day before their child(ren) leaves for school. This screening must include a temperature check. If your child exhibits any of the symptoms related to COVID-19, they should be kept home from school. Students who continue to exhibit symptoms should be seen by a doctor and provide a note before returning to school. Parents will be periodically required to acknowledge that they are conducting a daily health screening and temperature check of their child(ren).

Daily Student Home Screening Form (one per child): https://forms.gle/kLwJ7mC98qi1F2ca6

Symptomatic/Sick Children: Students who exhibit symptoms associated with COVID-19 must stay home from school and be cleared by a doctor and symptom-free before returning to school. Please review this CDC link for more detailed information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/index.html

Student Participation and Attendance: Both remote and in-person learners are expected to be present and actively engaged in the learning tasks, ask questions, and virtually collaborate with classmates at home and in school. Students will also be required to complete a variety of self-directed and asynchronous activities. This way of learning is different and there must be a concerted effort between students, parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure its success. When working virtually on Google Meet, the “Chat” stream should be used only at the request of the teacher or to ask the teacher a question.

Prevention and Mitigation: As we approach the holiday weekend, it is vital that everyone continue to practice the precautions that have proven to be effective to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Face coverings and social distancing should continue to be observed by all; our ability to remain open to students will be dependent on the public’s behavior outside of our schools.

Reinforce Healthy Practices at Home:

Practice wearing a mask to build comfort

Continue wearing a mask anytime social distancing cannot be maintained

Obey social distancing when out in public

Promote personal hygiene at home, use of hand sanitizer, and frequent hand washing

We are all looking forward to a safe and healthy return to school. Please discuss the above expectations with your child and let us know if you have any questions. Collectively we can keep our schools open and our students and staff healthy.

Thank you,

Dr. Jeremy Luft
Superintendent of Schools

pvcsd.org
PVES Message – Daily schedule 9:05AM-2:45PM
PVMS Message – Daily schedule 7:45AM-1:50PM
PVHS Message – Daily schedule 7:50AM-1:50PM

Reopening Plan –
English: http://pvcsd.org/index.php/district/superintendent/pvcsd-reopening-plan-please-review/
Spanish: http://pvcsd.org/index.php/district/reopening-plan-spanish/

****************************************************

Estimada comunidad de Putnam Valley:

Nuestras escuelas están listas para abrir y estamos esperando ansiosamente el regreso de nuestros estudiantes.
