{"id":7765,"date":"2020-05-23T13:18:35","date_gmt":"2020-05-23T17:18:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=7765"},"modified":"2020-05-23T13:18:35","modified_gmt":"2020-05-23T17:18:35","slug":"weekly-word-may-23-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/weekly-word-may-23-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Word &#8211; May 23, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families,<\/p>\n<p>As we remember our fallen soldiers this weekend, I would like to wish you a safe and relaxing Memorial Day Weekend.\u00a0 This is such an important holiday in our nation, and many of our students have participated in learning activities this week that emphasize the meaning of Memorial Day.\u00a0 Along with this, this date is a calendar signal that summer is coming, and we all look forward to better days.<\/p>\n<p>As one more reminder, I am sharing the Student Information Sheet for all parents of students currently in grades Kindergarten through Grade 3.\u00a0 These sheets should be emailed to me by Friday, May 29<sup>th<\/sup>, at <a href=\"mailto:mpodesta@pvcsd.org\">mpodesta@pvcsd.org<\/a>.\u00a0 We ask that you do not make specific teacher requests, as teacher placement is not yet finalized for the coming school year.\u00a0 We are busy planning for September! Link: <a href=\"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/resources\/ES\/resources\/PDF\/Student_Placement_Information.pdf\">Student Information Sheet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the coming weeks, you will be hearing about your student\u2019s grade level Drop Off\/Pick Up days for school supply and personal belongings.\u00a0 These days will be scheduled during the week of June 15<sup>th<\/sup>, and they will take place <u>outside<\/u>.\u00a0 No students will enter the school building.\u00a0 More information will follow, but I thank our PVES staff for beginning this organization process.<\/p>\n<p>Our Fourth-Grade families will be invited to participate in a Farewell Drive-By on Friday, June 19<sup>th<\/sup>, from 12:30 to 2:00 at Putnam Valley Elementary School.\u00a0 Our entire staff will be invited to participate in this special event for our 4<sup>th<\/sup> Graders.\u00a0 Thank you for marking your calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Our hallways are still quiet, but our distance learning continues.\u00a0 Thank you for supporting your child\u2019s learning and engagement with our PVES virtual classrooms.\u00a0 Our teachers have become quite skilled at setting up exciting learning activities and interactive Google Meets with our students.\u00a0 We have several more weeks of teaching and learning, and our classroom teachers will be designing lessons that focus on important learning points to prepare our students for September.\u00a0 Let\u2019s all give it our very best for the next few weeks!\u00a0 And then a well-deserved summer vacation will be here!<\/p>\n<p>I am proud and honored to present this beautiful link that will bring you to a video created by several Putnam Valley parents as a tribute to our PVCSD staff.\u00a0 Please sit back and enjoy this precious creation with your children.\u00a0 Our staff was so excited to create a slideshow for our students, but to receive one back is so meaningful.\u00a0 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.\u00a0 We love our PV families!
