I am hopeful that everyone has had an opportunity to get outside and enjoy the nice weather over the past few days. Although this is not the spring break that everyone had expected, we hope that the distance learning assignments for this week are providing students with academic support and enrichment, while providing an opportunity to unwind and relax. I have highlighted a few important items below.

Closure Period Extended until April 29: The Governor announced that all New York State schools are ordered to remain closed until at least April 29. Distance learning, meal service, and childcare for first responders essential workers will continue throughout the school closure. For families needing breakfast and lunch meals prepared by Aramark, our food service vendor, please complete this form so we can properly prepare. Click here. Meals are free as part of the NYSED Child Nutrition Program.

Regents Exams: The Board of Regents has announced the cancellation of all Regents Exams scheduled for this June. NYSED prepared an FAQ document to address questions that may arise as a result of this decision: http://www.nysed.gov/common/nysed/files/programs/coronavirus/nysed-covid-19-regents-grad-req-faq.pdf

All Fields Remain Closed: It is imperative that we continue to heed the warning from public health care professionals and refrain from gathering in groups. Despite the calls for social distancing, we continue to see groups (of all ages) gathering on the district fields. As noted in previous communications, all district fields are closed, group activities are prohibited, the high school track and wellness trail remain open for individuals to walk while practicing social distancing. We are asking all Putnam Valley residents to please abide by these rules and keep the entire community safe.

Please take some time this week to thank first responders and essential workers who are out there supporting our community on a daily basis. Our health care systems are stressed and we must each do our part to ensure they are able to care for those who need it most.

Although upcoming holiday celebrations are being altered, we wish everyone peace and good health.

Stay well,

Dr. Jeremy Luft
Superintendent of Schools

Msg. from Dr. Luft – 4/1/20

__________________

He resaltado algunos elementos importantes a continuación.
