Normal pick up service will resume on Monday, April 13. Families can replenish student accounts online at MySchoolBucks or leave a check with Aramark if needed. That information will certainly be shared as soon as it becomes available.

What are the current expectations for distance learning? From the onset of this crisis, my expectation has been that all teachers will do whatever they can to continue to provide instruction to their students. Although instruction will vary from classroom to classroom, it is my belief that everyone is doing the best they can to support their students during this difficult time. The feedback I have received has been extremely positive and recognizes the efforts being made by many members of our school community. I have encouraged teachers to continue sharing best practices with their colleagues in an effort to maximize the effectiveness of the instruction being provided. The district is currently creating a continuity of instruction plan that will provide guidance and set expectations for online instruction, this document will be shared with teachers, students, and parents.

How are we providing IEP services to those students who need them? Special education teachers are modifying lessons and providing accommodations and modifications as appropriate, as well as providing direct instruction. Our related service providers continue to provide work that relates to student goals that can be delivered remotely. Video and audio modalities are being used to work with individual students and groups of students. In addition to working with students, the entire special education staff continues to communicate with parents/guardians to ensure they have support when working with their children. Each teacher/related service provider will communicate with each family a plan that identifies how services are being delivered. As the district continues to seek additional guidance, our current understanding is that we will need to hold program review meetings for students who may need compensatory services when we return to school.

As we near the end of our second week of this closure period, I know the burden of balancing your personal and professional obligations continues to grow. We recognize the challenges families face as they work to support their child’s instruction while completing your own professional work.
