{"id":6801,"date":"2019-09-19T15:44:24","date_gmt":"2019-09-19T19:44:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=6801"},"modified":"2019-09-19T15:44:24","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T19:44:24","slug":"september-19-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/september-19-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"September 19, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families,<\/p>\n<p>We are enjoying another full week of school, with great weather and big smiles!\u00a0 Our students are beginning the year with great excitement and motivation, and we look forward to an amazing school year of growth and learning.\u00a0 Thank you for having your children here on time every day.\u00a0 As you know, the elementary school day officially begins at 9:12 AM, and ends at 3:20 PM.\u00a0 Buses usually leave the school between 3:30 and 3:34 each afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the school picnic last Friday.\u00a0 I know that many families made the effort to be here, and we hope a good time was had by all.\u00a0 We look forward to many more exciting social events throughout the school year.\u00a0 It is always good to celebrate the wonderful community of Putnam Valley!<\/p>\n<p>As some classes begin going on field trips soon, it is important to remind parents that chaperones may <u>not<\/u> bring younger siblings on the school trips.\u00a0 We need our chaperones to pay very careful attention to our students, and this, of course, is a special time for you and your child and his\/her classmates.\u00a0 Thank you for understanding this important policy, which focuses on safety, a top priority.<\/p>\n<p>We have a busy month ahead!\u00a0 There will be no school on Monday, September 30<sup>th<\/sup>, and Tuesday, October 1<sup>st<\/sup>, in honor of Rosh Hashanah.\u00a0 Schools will also be closed on Wednesday, October 9<sup>th<\/sup>, in honor of Yom Kippur, and on Monday, October 14<sup>th<\/sup>, in honor of Columbus Day.\u00a0 Our School Picture Day will take place on Monday, October 7<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The fall Scholastic Book Fair will be held at PVES from Monday, October 28<sup>th<\/sup> through Friday, November 1<sup>st<\/sup>.\u00a0 Please check the calendar scroll carefully.<\/p>\n<p>As we settle into the new school year, please establish strong and steady routines for your after school and evening hours.\u00a0 As you know, the children should be completing their homework and organizing it for the next school day as independently as possible each night.\u00a0 Bedtime and reading routines should stay regular for the children, so that they are well rested for each day.\u00a0 And please be sure to enjoy this beautiful fall weather with your children after school.\u00a0 Fresh air and exercise are so important!<\/p>\n<p>Please be sure that you have signed up for a November parent\/teacher conference with your child\u2019s teachers.\u00a0 If you would like to meet with any support staff (AIS, ENL, Speech), please reach out to them directly via email.\u00a0 We look forward to communicating closely with you throughout the school year.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the weekend ahead\u2026the last official weekend of summer!\u00a0 The weather looks to be terrific!<\/p>\n<p>Please reach out with any questions or concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Warmly,<br \/>\nMs. Podesta<br \/>\nPrincipal<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families, We are enjoying another full week of school, with great weather and big smiles!\u00a0 Our students are beginning the year with great excitement and motivation, and we look forward to an amazing school year of growth and learning.\u00a0 Thank you for having your children here on time every day.\u00a0 As you know,&hellip;
