{"id":6743,"date":"2019-09-03T13:31:53","date_gmt":"2019-09-03T17:31:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=6743"},"modified":"2019-09-03T13:32:54","modified_gmt":"2019-09-03T17:32:54","slug":"september-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/ms\/middle-school-letter\/september-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"September 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">September 2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dear PVMS Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welcome back!\u00a0 The thought of a new school year brings many emotions for our children, families, and staff members.\u00a0 Please know that your children are in great hands and that we all work together for what is best for all students.\u00a0 We have an exciting year planned and we are excited to see your children back in school! The social, emotional, and academic well-being of all middle school students will continue to be our focus this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Establishing a routine will help to promote success.\u00a0 Please create time where your children can focus on school,\u00a0 inclusive of your busy schedules outside of our school day. An academic planner will come home the first week of school and should be used on a daily basis for students to write down homework, take notes, and schedule their busy lives.\u00a0 In addition, please check Google Classroom for assignments that may be posted by classroom teachers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grades will be posted on PowerSchool.\u00a0 Please work with your children and partner with us in checking assignments and grades so that everyone stays up to date on work.\u00a0 We will send home paper report cards twice a year. One will go home after the second quarter and one will go home after the fourth quarter.\u00a0 Families will receive notifications when mid-quarter grades are posted and quarterly grades are finalized and you may check grades as often as you would like.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three of our goals this year, are building relationships, being empathetic, and excelling academically.\u00a0 Our Advisory period will continue to focus on these goals while encouraging student advocacy and focusing on the social and emotional wellbeing of all students.\u00a0 We will be combining lunch groups so that each grade level will eat together and have recess together. This will help in building relationships. In addition, we will be expanding on our elementary school great expectations of \u201cBe Kind, Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible.\u201d\u00a0 Our middle school will use Tiger P.R.I.D.E. as a springboard in addressing character education. There will be more to come as the year progresses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please note that if you ever have any questions regarding grades, an event that took place in class, or you just wanted to share information, please contact your child\u2019s teacher directly.\u00a0 If you would like to schedule a meeting with your child\u2019s teachers, then you may arrange to do so through a grade level team leader.
