{"id":6020,"date":"2019-03-01T15:42:45","date_gmt":"2019-03-01T20:42:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=6020"},"modified":"2019-03-01T15:42:45","modified_gmt":"2019-03-01T20:42:45","slug":"march-1-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/march-1-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"March 1, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families,<\/p>\n<p>The month of March seems to be coming in like a lion this year!\u00a0 Thank you for making secondary plans for your children in case of school cancellations, delays, or early dismissals.\u00a0 Safety must be our primary concern, and our New York winters keep us quite busy.\u00a0 Please stay safe this weekend, as more winter weather is predicted.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to the students of Mr. Sperling\u2019s class on a wonderful presentation of their Shadow Play, \u201cBeyond Wonderland 2,\u201d this afternoon.\u00a0 Our students in grades 2, 3, and 4 were able to see the show this afternoon, and families are invited to attend tonight\u2019s 6:30 PM performance.\u00a0 Mr. Sperling, Mrs. Keeler, and Mrs. Bennett have worked so hard with these talented students.\u00a0 Bravo!<\/p>\n<p>Our Fourth Grade Science\/Maker Fair will take place on Wednesday, March 13<sup>th<\/sup>, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in our big gym.\u00a0 We look forward to seeing the wonderful experiments and research studies that our fourth graders have been working on.\u00a0 We also thank our Science Honor Society students from PVHS who have visited on Thursday afternoons to provide our children with guidance on their projects.\u00a0 What a wonderful collaborative effort!<\/p>\n<p>As a safety concern, I would like to remind all parents that our students should not be eating on the morning or afternoon bus rides.\u00a0 All food should be kept in backpacks until the students arrive either at school or at home.\u00a0 Thank you for your help with this.<\/p>\n<p>We are all looking forward to the PVES Musical Weekend, March 22<sup>nd<\/sup> and 23<sup>rd<\/sup>.\u00a0 Thank you to Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Calhoun for your outstanding work with our young actors!<\/p>\n<p>March is Women\u2019s History Month!\u00a0 Our teachers will be planning lessons that are integrated into our curriculum that support learning around this theme.\u00a0 If you are ever interested in speaking to our students about a topic which connects with our learning, please let us know!<\/p>\n<p>Our Kindergarten Registration dates are quickly approaching.\u00a0 We look forward to welcoming our newest families to PVES, and to setting up our Kindergarten Screening appointments for May 20<sup>th<\/sup> through May 22<sup>nd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the weekend ahead.\u00a0 March is a wonderful month of learning and growth, as the school calendar is quite smooth.\u00a0 We just have to watch the weather!<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for all you do!<\/p>\n<p>Warmly,<br \/>\nMs. Podesta<br \/>\nPrincipal<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families, The month of March seems to be coming in like a lion this year!\u00a0 Thank you for making secondary plans for your children in case of school cancellations, delays, or early dismissals.\u00a0 Safety must be our primary concern, and our New York winters keep us quite busy.\u00a0 Please stay safe this weekend,&hellip;
