{"id":5872,"date":"2019-02-01T14:27:36","date_gmt":"2019-02-01T19:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=5872"},"modified":"2019-02-01T14:27:36","modified_gmt":"2019-02-01T19:27:36","slug":"february-1-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/february-1-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"February 1, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Parents,<\/p>\n<p>Happy Friday!\u00a0 It certainly has been an eventful week with weather, and it seems that we will actually be looking forward to some spring-like temperatures in a few days!\u00a0 The children will be happy to get outside for recess next week.\u00a0 I hope that you all stayed safe in the recent storms.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to our fourth-grade classes on the wonderful job they did in their Winter Concert this week!\u00a0 The students were well prepared, even with several school interruptions, and the students and families seemed to truly love the performance!\u00a0 Thank you, as always, to Mrs. Calhoun and Mrs. Bennett for your work with these young musicians and vocalists!<\/p>\n<p>Today we celebrated Sports Jersey Day in school in honor of the upcoming Super Bowl!\u00a0 This is also PV Pride Day, of course, so there is lots of blue and white in our building today!\u00a0 The students love to come together as a whole school and sing our famous \u201cPV Pride Song.\u201d\u00a0 This sing-along takes place at the end of all of our school performances.<\/p>\n<p>February is Black History Month!\u00a0 In each classroom, our students are learning about this unit through their reading, writing, and Social Studies activities.\u00a0 Our main hallway bulletin board highlights important people in our country\u2019s history.\u00a0 Thank you to our teachers for always putting great effort into meaningful lesson planning!<\/p>\n<p>As we approach the 100<sup>th<\/sup> Day of School, we can pause to make sure that our students are working with the best learning habits and study routines to promote academic success now and in the future.\u00a0 Please always speak positively to your children about learning opportunities, homework habits, regular reading and math practice, and positive problem solving.\u00a0 This has such an enormous impact on your young learners, and we want to work together to always build a strong foundation for the growing years ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your positive feedback on our recent report cards, and you for always reaching out directly to your child\u2019s teachers with any specific questions regarding curriculum or progress.\u00a0 We are always here to help, but your teachers know your students best.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, we will see what the Groundhog says about the number of weeks until spring!\u00a0 I\u2019m sure that the children will be excited to find out the Groundhog\u2019s prediction!<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the weekend ahead, and the big football game too!\u00a0 Thank you for all you do.<\/p>\n<p>Warmly,<br \/>\nMs. Podesta<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Parents, Happy Friday!\u00a0 It certainly has been an eventful week with weather, and it seems that we will actually be looking forward to some spring-like temperatures in a few days!\u00a0 The children will be happy to get outside for recess next week.\u00a0 I hope that you all stayed safe in the recent storms.
