{"id":5829,"date":"2019-01-24T14:36:54","date_gmt":"2019-01-24T19:36:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=5829"},"modified":"2025-02-28T16:08:47","modified_gmt":"2025-02-28T21:08:47","slug":"january-24-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/january-24-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"January 24, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families,<\/p>\n<p>I hope that you all stayed safe and warm in the recent storm, and that these warmer temperatures are melting any remaining ice.\u00a0 Our students are looking forward to getting outside for recess again soon, but the cold temperatures and rain have kept us in for a bit.\u00a0 We know that fresh air and exercise help us all to access learning, and this is especially important during the winter months.<\/p>\n<p>As you know, mid-year Report Cards will be available online tomorrow afternoon, January 25<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Hard copies of these Report Cards will also be mailed to your homes, via U.S. mail.\u00a0 If you have any questions about your child\u2019s progress in school, please reach out to your child\u2019s teachers directly.\u00a0 All teachers can be reached via email by using the first letter of the teacher\u2019s first name, last name, @pvcsd.org.\u00a0 For example, my email is <a href=\"mailto:mpodesta@pvcsd.org\">mpodesta@pvcsd.org<\/a>.\u00a0 We encourage positive communication between home and school, as this benefits everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow marks the midpoint of the school year.\u00a0 This is a perfect time of year to check in with your child about good work habits, regular reading at home, healthy bedtimes, and homework and organizational routines.\u00a0 Our teachers are seeing great learning progress at this point in the year, and I thank them sincerely for their wonderful efforts.\u00a0 As always, regular attendance and punctuality should be encouraged.\u00a0 I love the saying, \u201cWhat is the most important word a child can say in school?\u201d\u00a0 The answer\u2026\u201dHERE!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Our students continue to check in with their Mood Meters and Feeling Words every day, as part of the Yale RULER Emotional Intelligence approach.\u00a0 As students become more able to recognize, understand, label, express, and regulate their emotions, they become better at approaching each day positively, becoming more able to access learning, make good decisions, and maintain strong physical and mental health.\u00a0 This is true for adults too!\u00a0 This is all part of our school district\u2019s approach to teaching Social and Emotional Intelligence, which is of great importance throughout life.<\/p>\n<p>Please check our Weekly Attachments.\u00a0 The Character Education Committee has provided a wonderful activity encouraging Acts of Kindness.\u00a0 This is a great activity to share at home!<\/p>\n<p>We are all looking forward to the Fourth Grade Winter Concert on Wednesday, January 30<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Families are invited to the 7:00 PM performance in our PVES Auditorium.\u00a0 We look forward to a wonderful show!<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the weekend ahead.\u00a0 Thank you for supporting our school initiatives, and for all you do to encourage your child\u2019s learning and growth.<\/p>\n<p>Warmly,<br \/>\nMs. Podesta<br \/>\nPrincipal<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families, I hope that you all stayed safe and warm in the recent storm, and that these warmer temperatures are melting any remaining ice.\u00a0 Our students are looking forward to getting outside for recess again soon, but the cold temperatures and rain have kept us in for a bit.\u00a0 We know that fresh&hellip;
