{"id":5136,"date":"2018-10-05T15:02:35","date_gmt":"2018-10-05T19:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/testweb.pvcsd.org\/?p=5136"},"modified":"2018-10-05T15:02:35","modified_gmt":"2018-10-05T19:02:35","slug":"october-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/ms\/middle-school-letter\/october-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"October 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVMS Families,<\/p>\n<p>October is already here and it is hard to believe that we have only had 15 days of school in September!\u00a0 Our Back to School Nights were a success and we hope you were able to get an idea of your child&#8217;s day and year ahead.\u00a0 If you would like to discuss your children further, please contact team leaders to set up a day that works for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Our clubs will be underway this month, check our daily communication regarding listings and schedule updates in the event that a club is changed.\u00a0 With over 25 clubs to choose from, your child can choose from a variety of activities that will keep them involved.\u00a0 We will have morning clubs (parent drop-off only) and afternoon clubs as well.<\/p>\n<p>Student Government speeches went well.\u00a0 We would like to see more involvement this year as any student may join Student Council.\u00a0 Student Government elected students will help to lead Student Council and meetings will take place throughout the year.\u00a0 With student advocacy and choice, we hope continue to build culture throughout our building.<\/p>\n<p>Please check your child&#8217;s assignment pads on a daily basis and PowerSchool to ensure accountability and transparency regarding grades and assignments.\u00a0 If you have any questions, please contact classroom teachers.<\/p>\n<p>October 1 &#8211; School Pictures &#8211; MS Gym &#8211; 10:00 a.m. &#8211; 1:15 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>October 3 &#8211; Gr. 8 Washington DC trip &#8211; Parent Info. Mtg \u00a07:00 &#8211; 9:00 p.m.\u00a0Dining Hall<\/p>\n<p>October 5 &#8211; Mid Point Quarter 1<\/p>\n<p>October 5 &#8211; Emergency Management Drill &#8211;\u00a0Dismissal 15 minutes early \u20132:20 p.m.<br \/>\nOctober 8 &#8211; Columbus Day \u2013 School Closed<\/p>\n<p>October 12 &#8211; Student of the Month Breakfast<\/p>\n<p>October 22 &#8211;\u00a0 26\u00a0&#8211; Red Ribbon Week<\/p>\n<p>October 26 &#8211; MS Halloween Bash<\/p>\n<p>October 29 &#8211; 31 &#8211; MS Book Fair<\/p>\n<p>October 31 &#8211; Halloween \u2013 Students may dress up (no masks or weapons)<\/p>\n<p>November 9 &#8211; School Picture Retakes<\/p>\n<p>The midpoint of quarter 1 will be Friday, October 5th.\u00a0 Please log-on to PowerSchool on October 12th\u00a0for comments from your child&#8217;s teachers regarding the first 5 weeks of school.\u00a0 Please contact your child&#8217;s teacher with any questions or concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Our Book Fair will take place the week of October 29th\u00a0\u2013 31st\u00a0during your child&#8217;s lunch periods.\u00a0 Please communicate with your child and provide them with funds if they want to purchase items.<\/p>\n<p>Mark your calendars for our annual Halloween Bash that will take place Friday, October 26th\u00a0as we look forward to a great turnout!
