{"id":4908,"date":"2018-05-31T11:28:27","date_gmt":"2018-05-31T15:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/testweb.pvcsd.org\/?p=4908"},"modified":"2018-05-31T11:28:27","modified_gmt":"2018-05-31T15:28:27","slug":"may-31-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/may-31-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"May 31, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families,<\/p>\n<p>And here we are, at the end of May, with one month left to this successful school year!\u00a0 We are so proud of our students and how they continue to grow and learn every day.\u00a0 The next few weeks of school are sure to be filled with many activities, special events, and engaging learning opportunities.\u00a0 Thank you for encouraging your children to finish the year strong, with high learning goals in mind.\u00a0 We are so proud of how far they have come this year!<\/p>\n<p>Our fourth-grade classes are enjoying some exciting outdoor learning at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center during these two weeks.\u00a0 The classes visit TOEC on a rotating schedule, and many parents have volunteered to help chaperone these overnight trips.\u00a0 Thank you to all for your help!\u00a0 I would like to especially thank our fourth-grade teachers who work so hard to organize these trips so that they are safe and educational.\u00a0 This takes a great deal of work, and we all appreciate that!<\/p>\n<p>Our fourth graders are also visiting the Putnam Valley Middle School at this time, for brief orientations.\u00a0 Our buildings work closely together to insure smooth transitions for our students.\u00a0 We also look forward to a very special Moving Up Ceremony for our fourth graders on Tuesday, June 19th at 10 AM.\u00a0 Ticket information to follow.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, June 8th, our second-grade classes will perform the adorable Fairy Tale Play.\u00a0 Parents are invited to the 2:00 performance.\u00a0 Get ready to smile and sing along!<\/p>\n<p>Our 5th annual PVES Spirit Week will take place from June 11th through June 15th.\u00a0 Please check the dress theme for each day for our building.\u00a0 All students and staff are invited to participate in this wonderful week of \u201cschool spirit,\u201d with an emphasis on kindness.\u00a0 Our Field Day is scheduled for Thursday, June 14th, with a rain date set for June 15th.\u00a0 The 4th Grade Reenactment will take place on June 12th.<\/p>\n<p>Please check our PTA website for upcoming events.\u00a0 Jester Jim will be performing for our 4th and 5th grade students tomorrow night in the PVES Auditorium. \u00a0The PV Renegades tickets are available on the PTA website, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.putnamvalleypta.org\/\">www.putnamvalleypta.org<\/a>.\u00a0 We hope to see you there!<\/p>\n<p>I would like to take a moment to congratulate our 16 fourth-grade students who received Southeastern Zone Physical Education Awards last month.\u00a0 These students were honored for their outstanding leadership, effort, and behavior as student-athletes.\u00a0 An Award Ceremony was held at Beacon High School in May.\u00a0 We are so proud of these young role-models, and we congratulate them on this recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Next week, we look forward to the very special PVHS Senior Cap and Gown Walk in our building, which will take place on Wednesday, June 6th, at 10:30 AM.\u00a0 This will be the third year of this beautiful tradition, and we look forward to celebrating the graduating seniors in the building where their formal education began.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the weekend ahead.\u00a0 We begin the month of June with lots of energy and excitement.<\/p>\n<p>Warmly,<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Podesta<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families, And here we are, at the end of May, with one month left to this successful school year!\u00a0 We are so proud of our students and how they continue to grow and learn every day.\u00a0 The next few weeks of school are sure to be filled with many activities, special events, and&hellip;
