{"id":199,"date":"2017-05-05T16:53:27","date_gmt":"2017-05-05T16:53:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/drwills.edublogs.org\/?p=199"},"modified":"2018-01-25T00:07:08","modified_gmt":"2018-01-25T05:07:08","slug":"thank-you-pv-education-foundation-18000-to-pvcsd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/district\/superintendent\/thank-you-pv-education-foundation-18000-to-pvcsd\/","title":{"rendered":"Thank You PV Education Foundation! $18,000 to PVCSD!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dear Putnam Valley Staff and Community Members:<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On Monday, when I visited the elementary school, first grade teacher\u00a0Mrs.\u00a0Hernandez, expressed her joy at receiving mural paint through a Putnam Valley Education Foundation\u00a0grant. They plan to update and decorate the walls of the first grade wing with a nature theme. Each year, the\u00a0PVEF\u00a0provides opportunities to staff members to apply for\u00a0grants\u00a0to enrich their classrooms and schools. This year&#8217;s grants\u00a0were approved\u00a0Tuesday\u00a0evening at the Board of Education meeting and have already contributed to excitement in our schools. As an example, our recent fourth grade reenactment at the elementary school, now an annual occurrence, comes alive through Revolutionary War costumes and\u00a018th century drums enhanced the music performed by our high school students. The history club at the high school traveled to Boston on a beautiful March day. STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math)\u00a0equipment will be purchased for the technology program at the elementary school, as well as alternative seating to increase student focus and participation.\u00a0This year, almost $18,000 was provided to support these and other teacher initiatives. (Please see the full list attached below)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We are very grateful for the efforts of the\u00a0PVEF\u00a0to enhance our school programs and inspire our teachers.\u00a0Thank you to all who support the Education Foundation. This is\u00a0a wonderful way to give teachers an opportunity to do more for their students!<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Please mark your calendars for the Foundation&#8217;s\u00a0upcoming event on Friday, June 2.
