Thank you for checking the calendar carefully this week for all that is happening at PVES!

Please remember to VOTE in the District Budget Vote on this Tuesday, May 19th. Voting will take place between 6 AM and 9 PM in our Elementary School Cafeteria. The entrance to the voting area will be well marked, and parking will be available right in front of the school. Our elementary students are welcome to take part in their own Student Vote when they come to vote with you! (They are choosing Mason’s middle name!) Thank you for helping your children learn more about the power of voting!

Will you be joining us for our Gardening Party on Tuesday, May 19th, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM? We look forward to sharing the planting time with you, enjoying snacks, music, and lots of fun! All community members are welcome to participate! Please feel free to bring annual flowers and planting tools! This is not a drop-off event, so please monitor your children as they help to beautify our school campus. We thank you so much for your participation!

Putnam Valley Elementary School was honored to welcome NYS Commissioner of Education, Dr. Betty Rosa, and other Board of Regents members, including Dr. Fran Wills, for a visit last week, as they toured all three PVCSD buildings. Dr. Rosa was so impressed with the high level of student engagement, academic rigor, and skilled instructional practices that she observed at PVCSD. We are so proud of our faculty, our students, and the culture in which we teach and learn. It was a wonderful day!

We greatly enjoyed welcoming our newest class of students and their parents this past week for Kindergarten Screening at our school. If you know anyone in PV with a child who will be 5 years old by December 1st, please have them reach out to us. September will be here soon!

This week, we look forward to our 1st Grade Concert (10:00 AM) and our 2nd Grade Concert (1:10 PM) on Tuesday in our Auditorium. Thank you to Mr. Durland for his excellent work with our students. Our shows are always so wonderful, and all community members are welcome!

As you know, our Elementary Students (only) will have a half-day on this Friday, May 22nd, with dismissal taking place at 12:00. Please be sure you are at your children’s bus stops after 12 noon, so that you are ready to greet them. There will be no school on Monday, May 25th, in honor of Memorial Day.

Thank you for having your children keep all toys from home either at home or tucked safely in their backpacks. This includes the newly-popular “squishy” toys that must be left at home, as they cannot be played with in school or on the bus. We appreciate your help with this.

Have a wonderful week ahead! Enjoy the sunshine!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal

Dear PVES Families, We have the warm, sunny weather here for our busy week ahead!
