It is wonderful to see our student-athletes back out on the fields representing our school!\u00a0 The Stage Crew and the cast have begun the preparation for the spring musical\u00a0Into the Woods,\u00a0which will be presented the weekend of April 17th.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As we transition into this new season, we have several important academic and operational updates to share:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Academic Progress &amp; Attendance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We have officially passed the midpoint of the\u00a03rd Quarter. This is a critical time for students to stay focused on their studies.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">PowerSchool Update: All grades and teacher comments have been updated. Please log in to your PowerSchool account to review your child\u2019s current progress.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Attendance Matters: We ask for your continued support in emphasizing the importance of being in school. This includes ensuring students arrive on time for the start of the day and remain in class for the entire period. Consistent attendance is a key factor in student success.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Valedictorian &amp; Salutatorian<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Congratulations to the PVHS Class of 2026\u00a0Valedictorian, Massimo Cartategui, and the\u00a0Salutatorian, Kaitlyn Caruso.\u00a0 The honor for both Massimo and Kaitlyn signifies a relentless commitment to precision, a mastery of the curriculum, and the ability to perform at a high level across every subject.\u00a0 They represent the academic leaders of our community\u2014both Massimo and Kaitlyn have balanced heavy workloads, extracurriculars, and personal growth, setting a standard for their peers.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Junior Parking Reminder<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">With spring comes a new milestone for many of our juniors: receiving their driver\u2019s licenses. While this is an exciting time, please remember:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Seniors Only: Parking on campus is a privilege reserved strictly for seniors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Future Privileges: Underclassmen who park on campus without authorization risk jeopardizing their ability to secure a parking permit during their senior year. Thank you for following our campus safety protocols.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Lockdown Drill Thursday, March 19th<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Prior to the drill, we will announce that we will begin our lockdown drill shortly.\u00a0 We will test out our automated lockdown system.\u00a0 Students and staff will hear an automated voice loudly announcing \u201cLockdown. Lockdown, Lockdown\u201d repetitively for a minute.\u00a0 The automated lockdown will be heard at the middle school and high school.\u00a0 Both schools will enter the lockdown protocol.\u00a0 The Putnam County Sheriff\u2019s Department will conduct the drill with other local law enforcement agencies simultaneously in both buildings.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Important Schedule Changes<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Please take note of the following adjustments to the upcoming school week:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Thursday, March 19: There will be no BOCES in observance of Eid al-Fitr. However, all Putnam Valley students are still expected to attend their scheduled classes at the high school.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Note: A separate ConnectEd message has been sent specifically to families of students enrolled in BOCES programs with further details.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Friday, March 20: There are no classes for students. This is a Superintendent\u2019s Conference Day, and our faculty and staff will be participating in a wide variety of professional development and training sessions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support of our students.
