Please keep encouraging your students to do their best with these opportunities to apply themselves and show off what they have been learning. As a reminder, we will send home paper copies of these results at the end of June.

A survey went home recently asking if families would like paper copies of report cards for the second quarter. Please do your best to respond if you haven’t done so already. As we enter the third quarter, take the time to check Powerschool and see that your children are completing their assignments. Students should check Powerschool and Google Classroom nightly in order to be productive and to excel academically. Our teachers have been extremely flexible and we are hopeful that everyone is engaged in work completion and mastery of our standards. The third quarter has historically proven to be one of the most challenging times of the year to be motivated coming out of the winter months. Please partner with us in order to ensure our students continue to do their best. It is imperative that systems and schedules be established with regard to executive functioning in order to stay organized during this extremely busy time of year.

The midpoint of the school year is a nice opportunity to schedule a meeting with your child’s teachers. This helps to raise awareness around expectations, what is going well, and what can be improved upon. Please contact your child’s grade level teacher or team leader to schedule a time to meet as I would encourage all families to do so at least one time throughout the school year.

Grade 5 – Dorothy Nadell – dnadell@pvcsd.org

Grade 6 – Lee Ann Johnson – ljohnson@pvcsd.org

Grade 7 – Kim Thyrre – kthyrre@pvcsd.org

Grade 8 – Priscilla Lutz – plutz@pvcsd.org

Student’s second quarter report card grades will be available on Powerschool beginning Friday, February 6, 2026.

If you’d like to receive a paper copy of your child’s report card for the second quarter, please complete the form attached.

*Please note, if you do not fill out the attached Opt In Form, you will not receive a paper copy of your child’s report card for the second quarter.

Thank you for partnering with us. Please be on the lookout for these in your mailboxes or check on PowerSchool and contact your child’s teacher(s) if you have any questions.

We have a PTA Hot Chocolate Event on Thursday, February 12th during lunch periods. Thank you to all of our volunteers from the PTA that help make this event successful and bring warmth to our students.

Our Student vs Staff Volleyball Game is scheduled for Friday, February 13th. This is one of those events that our eighth graders wait their entire middle school career to participate in and it is evident in their school spirit and preparation. We look forward to this spirited event year after year.

Winter Recess will take place from February 16th through February 20th. Students will not have school on these days. Classes will resume on Monday, February 23rd.

With winter in full force and the possibility of snowfall upon us at any time, please make sure that students have a plan if we were to dismiss early. We want to ensure all students have a place to go and/or a key to a house. This will help reduce the anxiety that an early dismissal brings. In addition, our delay schedules can be found on our website.

As always, we partner to give children the best experience possible. We look forward to a great start to the second half of our school year.

Sincerely,

Travis W.
