Today, Friday, October 3rd, we&#8217;re reaching the <b>midpoint of the first quarter<\/b>!<\/p>\n<p>To keep you informed of your student&#8217;s progress, all teachers will have their grades updated by <b>Wednesday, October 15th<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Back to School Night<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>We are excited to open our doors to you next week for our annual Back to School Night on Wednesday, October 8th.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Doors will open at 5:45 PM.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">I will deliver a welcome message at 6:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Concurrently, Dr. Payne, Mrs. Perez, Mrs. Himmelfarb, and Mrs. Nelson will welcome our multilingual families in the library at 6:00 PM.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">You will follow your child&#8217;s MONDAY A-DAY schedule to meet their teachers. Please ask your child for a copy of their schedule. We will also have student schedules available in the front foyer if needed.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1cTdY_4Yt_oi-oGRE2bVsQTOxtXHzagBqv5aIJ2VyDLo\/edit?usp=sharing\">PVHS Back to School Night Schedule 2025<\/a><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Dr. Payne and I will be available to address your questions throughout the evening.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Babysitting will be available in the Wellness Center!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>School Spirit &amp; Engagement<\/h2>\n<p>Get ready to show your school pride! Spirit Week begins on Tuesday, October 14th, culminating with the legendary Color Wars competition on Friday, October 17th.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Upcoming Presentations for Students and Parents<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>We have several important and informative events coming up:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Why Character Matters Presentation:<\/b> On <b>Thursday, October 16th<\/b>, we will welcome speaker <b>Mark Leinweaver<\/b> for a 30-minute presentation to all students. His presentation will stress the importance of <b>character<\/b>, covering topics like <b>Social Media Dangers &amp; Consequences<\/b>, <b>Being Brave In Behavior<\/b>, the <b>Need To Volunteer<\/b>, and <b>Anti-Bullying Leadership<\/b>.\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whycharactermatters.com\">www.whycharactermatters.com<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>College Financial Aid Night:<\/b> On <b>Wednesday, October 22nd<\/b>, from <b>7:00 PM to 8:00 PM<\/b> in the Performing Arts Center, we are pleased to host <b>Mr. Dan Robinson<\/b>, Campus Director at Pace University, who will present on <b>Financial Aid for college<\/b>. We encourage all interested families to attend in person or <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/live\/bjcNx2WJi_E?feature=share\">watch virtually<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Academic Information &amp; Deadlines<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>PSAT\/NMSQT: <\/b>Registered students will be administered the Digital PSAT\/NMSQT on <b>Saturday, October 11<\/b> at <b>8:00am<\/b>. Doors open at <b>7:45 am<\/b> and doors close at 8:00am. Students must arrive on time on test day.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>IB Information Night:<\/b> Join us on <b>Tuesday, October 21st,<\/b> at <b>6:00 PM<\/b> in the library for our annual <b>IB Information Night<\/b>. This will immediately precede the Financial Aid presentation.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>High School Opening of Schools Presentation:<\/b> Following the IB Information Night, we will present at the Board of Education meeting at <b>7:00 PM<\/b> on <b>October 21st<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>DCC Course Registration Deadline:<\/b> The last day to register for <b>DCC courses<\/b> is <b>Friday, October 10th<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>AP and IB Course Payment Deadline:<\/b> The deadline to pay for <b>AP and IB courses<\/b> is <b>Saturday, November 1st<\/b>. Please log in to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.totalregistration.net\/\"><b>Total Registration<\/b><\/a> to complete the payment process. <i>A note regarding IB courses<\/i>: The district pays for all <b>IB Language and Literature courses<\/b>. All IB courses are two-year commitments, and payment is due on <b>November 1st<\/b> of the senior year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>BOCES Closures<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Please note that the <b>BOCES campuses<\/b> will be <b>closed<\/b> on <b>Wednesday, October 15th<\/b> and <b>Monday, October 20th<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your continued support of Putnam Valley High School.
