{"id":17656,"date":"2025-10-01T11:06:53","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T15:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=17656"},"modified":"2025-10-07T12:01:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T16:01:00","slug":"october-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/ms\/middle-school-letter\/october-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"October 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-17658 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/october.jpg\" alt=\"October\" width=\"258\" height=\"245\" \/>Dear PVMS Families,<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s that time of year when playoff baseball is in full swing and football season is among us.\u00a0 For those of you that aren\u2019t into sports, the pumpkin and spice flavored everything time of year has begun as well.<\/p>\n<p>We have had a spectacular start to our school year and your children have been amazing.\u00a0 Although we typically see cooler temperatures this time of year, it has been unseasonably warm with little to no rainfall. The sun is setting earlier and earlier and it is dark before 7PM.\u00a0 Our early mornings are full of darkness as well and Halloween is right around the corner.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to all of our families that were able to come out to our Back to School Night(s) and partnering with us in your child\u2019s educational journey.\u00a0 If you would like to schedule a meeting with your child&#8217;s teachers, please contact the teacher directly and\/or the team leader on the grade level\u00a0 to set up a day that works for everyone.\u00a0 Topics of these meetings may range from academic, social and emotional, or just letting teachers know who your child is as a learner.\u00a0 Since we do not have scheduled parent teacher conferences like our elementary school, I highly encourage you to reach out and schedule these meetings at your convenience.<\/p>\n<p>Some of<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1kyWX9F_pKRfL59gjjAO9XW5tMQP5unyVBzVO7Tlfnz0\/edit?usp=sharing\"> our clubs<\/a> have started and many more will start this month.\u00a0 We always encourage students to expand their horizons in trying new things and this is a wonderful opportunity to do so.\u00a0 Seventh and eighth grade students that may qualify for National Junior Honor Society can expand on their experiences and application requirements by joining modified sports and joining clubs.\u00a0 Many of our clubs run in the afternoon but some run in the morning so there is a need to be dropped off at 7:00AM.\u00a0 Please sign your child up prior to attending and remember students can<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeacYYUJgYr0Y3nbV-Liz9UvtTQ5ug4CHdiZu_EnaneUOmGNg\/viewform?ts=60f97f87\"> sign up <\/a>for as many as they would like to.\u00a0 Students will take the<a href=\"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/resources\/pdf\/transportation\/415_loop_run_530_sports_run.pdf\"> loop bus<\/a> that runs home or must be picked up by parents\/guardians at 4:15PM.<\/p>\n<p>Our <b>Student Council<\/b> speeches and elections will be\u00a0 held on Wednesday, October 8th in our HS PAC.\u00a0 Our students have started to campaign and have displayed their posters around the school.\u00a0 It takes a great deal of courage to give speeches in front of our student body.\u00a0 Good luck to all!<\/p>\n<p>Please note that our first <b>Student of the Month<\/b> recognition will be focused on what it means to be principled.\u00a0 We look at this attribute along with the 9 other attributes for nominating students. \u00a0 Our breakfast will take place on Wednesday, October 15th from\u00a0 8-8:30AM in the Dining Hall and is through invitation only.\u00a0 A continued thank you to our PTA\u00a0 for sponsoring this throughout the year.\u00a0 We are always looking for volunteers to help set up and take pictures the morning of the event.<\/p>\n<p><b>Our middle school will be hosting a blood drive in collaboration with the NY Blood Center on November 3rd from 2:30 &#8211; 7:00PM in our own PVMS Gymnasium. <\/b>\u00a0Please consider donating if you are able to.\u00a0 Our students will have the opportunity to spread the word, volunteer their time, and learn about how these donations help to save lives.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Some important dates to mark on your calendar this month:<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>October 1 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 PTA Meeting &#8211; 6:30 &#8211; 7:30PM &#8211; PVMS Dining Hall<\/p>\n<p>October 2 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Yom Kippur &#8211; School Closed<\/p>\n<p>October 3 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Mid Point Quarter 1<\/p>\n<p>October 6 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 PVMS Picture Day &#8211; Dress Your Best<\/p>\n<p>October 7 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Washington D.C.
