{"id":13930,"date":"2024-01-31T14:20:01","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T19:20:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=13930"},"modified":"2024-01-31T14:20:01","modified_gmt":"2024-01-31T19:20:01","slug":"february-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/ms\/middle-school-letter\/february-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"February 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-13931\" src=\"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/feb.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"184\" \/>Dear PVMS Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welcome to February and the second half of our school year.\u00a0 To say the year has flown by so far would be an understatement!\u00a0 Our weather patterns continue to be unpredictable with rain and temperatures in the upper forties one week and then temperatures dropping to the teens with flurries the next week.\u00a0 Please ensure that your children are bundled up and dressing appropriately for outside recess as we hope to continue to have your children outside enjoying some fresh air when the temperature permits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our students just finished their winter iReady benchmark assessments and continue to show growth. We track progress using this program. Our students participate in iReady Instruction two to four days a week during their I\/E periods and teachers assign materials that work on areas of growth.\u00a0 Please keep encouraging our students to do their best with these opportunities to apply themselves and show off what they have been learning.\u00a0 As a reminder, we will send home paper copies of these results at the end of June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since the year is well under way and we have entered the third quarter, please take the time to check Powerschool and see that your children are completing their assignments. \u00a0 Students should check Powerschool and Google Classroom in order to be productive and to excel academically.\u00a0 Our teachers have been extremely flexible and we are hopeful that everyone is engaged in work completion and mastery of our standards.\u00a0 The third quarter has historically proven to be one of the most challenging times of the year to be motivated in coming out of the winter months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since we have reached the midpoint of the school year it is a nice opportunity to schedule a meeting with your child\u2019s teachers.\u00a0 This helps to raise awareness around expectations, what is going well, and what can be improved upon.\u00a0 Please contact your child\u2019s grade level team leader to schedule a time to meet as I would encourage all families to do so at least one time throughout the school year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grade 5 \u2013 Catherine Dreessen &#8211; cdreessen@pvcsd.org<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grade 6 \u2013 Olivia Roth &#8211; oroth@pvcsd.org<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grade 7 \u2013 Wanda Diaz &#8211; wdiaz<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">@pvcsd.org<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grade 8 \u2013 Michelle Dugal &#8211; mdugal@pvcsd.org<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student&#8217;s second quarter report card grades will be available on Powerschool beginning Friday, February 2, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you&#8217;d like to receive a paper copy of your child&#8217;s report card for the second quarter as well as the fourth quarter, please complete the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSc3lOvJAOh3UudiDItD6qSnbx1ryp700biU72SxIZQ1jm9HjQ\/viewform?vc=0&amp;c=0&amp;w=1&amp;flr=0\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> attached.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*Please note, if you do not fill out the attached Opt In Form, you will not receive a paper copy of your child&#8217;s report card for the second and fourth quarters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you for partnering with us.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please be on the lookout for these and contact your child\u2019s teacher(s) if you have any questions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Winter Recess will take place from February 17th through February 25th.\u00a0 Students will not have school on these days.\u00a0 Classes will resume on Monday, February 26th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With winter in full force and the possibility of snowfall upon us, please make sure that students have a plan if we were to dismiss early.\u00a0 We want to ensure all students have a place to go and\/or a key to a house.\u00a0 This will help reduce the anxiety that an early dismissal brings.\u00a0 In addition, our delay schedules can be found on our website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As always, we partner to give children the best experience possible.\u00a0 We look forward to a great start to the second half of our school year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sincerely,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Travis W.
