src=\"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/october23.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"167\" \/>Dear PVMS Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are off to a wonderful start!\u00a0 I don\u2019t know about you but September flew by and it is hard to believe October is upon us. \u00a0 It\u2019s the time of year for cooler temperatures, falling leaves,\u00a0 and pumpkins.\u00a0 When we look outside in the late afternoon, the sun is setting earlier and earlier and it is dark before we know it.\u00a0 Please remind your children to dress appropriately for these dropping temperatures as they wait for their buses in the morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you to all that were able to come out to our Back to School Night(s) and partnering with us in your child\u2019s educational journey.\u00a0 If you would like to schedule a meeting with your child&#8217;s teachers, please contact the teacher directly and\/or the team leader on the grade level\u00a0 to set up a day that works for everyone.\u00a0 Topics of these meetings may range from academic, social and emotional, or just letting teachers know who your child is as a learner.\u00a0 Since we do not have scheduled parent teacher conferences like our elementary school, I highly encourage you to reach out and schedule these meetings at your convenience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1kyWX9F_pKRfL59gjjAO9XW5tMQP5unyVBzVO7Tlfnz0\/edit?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> our clubs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have started and many more will start this month.\u00a0 We always encourage students to expand their horizons in trying new things and this is a wonderful opportunity to do so.\u00a0 Eighth grade students that may qualify for National Junior Honor Society can expand on their experiences and application requirements by joining modified sports and joining clubs.\u00a0 Many of our clubs run in the afternoon but some run in the morning so there is a need to be dropped off at 7:00AM.\u00a0 Please sign up prior to attending and remember students can<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSeacYYUJgYr0Y3nbV-Liz9UvtTQ5ug4CHdiZu_EnaneUOmGNg\/viewform?ts=60f97f87\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sign up <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for as many as they would like to.\u00a0 Please note that students will take the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/resources\/pdf\/transportation\/415_loop_run_530_sports_run.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> loop bus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that runs home or must be picked up by parents\/guardians at 4:15PM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our Student Government speeches and elections were held on Friday, September 29th in our HS PAC.\u00a0 Congratulations to all of our students who campaigned and had the courage to give speeches in front of the entire student body.\u00a0 We are so proud of all!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our teachers have been working hard at weaving our 10 IB MYP Learner Profile\u00a0 attributes into daily instruction.\u00a0 Student work and lessons have been focused on what it means to be:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inquirers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Principled<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open-minded<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" 400;\">Reflective<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please note that our first Student of the Month recognition will be focused on what it means to be principled.\u00a0 Our breakfast will take place on Friday, October 27th and is through invitation only.\u00a0 A continued thank you to our PTA for sponsoring this throughout the year.\u00a0 We are always looking for volunteers to help set up and take pictures the morning of the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Our PVMS Building Steering committee is looking for parent volunteers to attend our meetings.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The Putnam Valley Middle School building steering committee monitors the progress of the school, identifies opportunities to support it and troubleshoots challenges as they arise. When a challenge arises, the member identifying the issue will research and propose resolutions to be discussed by the committee. The committee will create a shared vision for the school and help to bring the vision to life by collaborating and building consensus. During the first meeting, the committee will develop\/review the charter with goals, norms, and guiding principles aligned to the mission that will be negotiated, recorded, and updated yearly. The committee will also determine the responsibilities for: facilitating meetings, scheduling meetings, developing meeting agendas, disseminating information regarding meetings. The Committee meets five times per year after school for one hour.
