{"id":107,"date":"2016-11-21T17:09:28","date_gmt":"2016-11-21T17:09:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/drwills.edublogs.org\/?p=107"},"modified":"2018-01-25T00:07:09","modified_gmt":"2018-01-25T05:07:09","slug":"thanksgiving-message-from-dr-wills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/district\/superintendent\/thanksgiving-message-from-dr-wills\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanksgiving Message from Dr. Wills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dear Putnam Valley Colleagues and Community:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, \u00a0I want to extend my best wishes to all for a fulfilling and joyful day. \u00a0Time with family and friends is special; we relax in the comfort of our homes, sharing our offerings of food and good spirits. That warmth is cherished, and for many it is anticipated for weeks ahead. Others may feel the absence of someone who is missed at the table, and\u00a0we bolster them with our presence and recollections of time past.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In that spirit of caring, \u00a0Putnam Valley High School,\u00a0has been dedicated\u00a0this past month\u00a0to Rachel&#8217;s Challenge, \u00a0fulfilling the wish of a young woman who was the first to die at Columbine High School in 1999, and who left behind diaries and poetry that seemed to prefigure her role in history, creating a challenge to her peers to spread \u00a0goodwill, and to play a part in history by\u00a0&#8220;dreaming big&#8221; and starting a chain reaction of kindness. Rachel&#8217;s challenge has been taken up by high\u00a0schools throughout the country.\u00a0Our &#8220;Make a Difference Club&#8221; has been collecting food for the needy in our area,sending notes of appreciation to our entire staff and pledging to participate in the Kindness\u00a0&#8220;crusade.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0Wonderfully,\u00a0with gratitude to their families,\u00a0we\u00a0notice in Putnam Valley Schools\u00a0that the students are, with very few exceptions, good to one another.
