Dear PVMS Families,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!\u00a0 We are extremely excited to see our students back in our classrooms.\u00a0 It has been so nice to see new students and fifth graders in our building getting acclimated to their new surroundings.\u00a0 Sixth graders are getting used to opening their lockers and memorizing their combinations and seventh graders are getting used to transitioning more often with more teachers on their schedules.\u00a0 We look to our eighth graders as the role models of our building with whom all of our students will look up to and our staff will help to guide them along the way.\u00a0 I know you are full of emotions as well!\u00a0 Some of you may be excited, hopeful, curious, nervous, and wondering what this year will look like.\u00a0 My hope is that it is a full return to normalcy!\u00a0 Please know that your children are in great hands and that we all work together for what is best for all students.\u00a0 We have an exciting year planned!\u00a0 One of our themes this year will be development and empowerment!\u00a0 This along with embedding PVMS PRIDE will be a focus for our year.\u00a0 Our students will strive to show <\/span>Perseverance, Responsibility, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy in all that they do.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To start our school year, it is imperative to establish a routine that will help to promote success.\u00a0 Please create time where your children can focus on school, inclusive of your busy schedules outside of our school day.\u00a0 An academic planner will come home soon and should be used on a daily basis for students to write down homework, take notes, and schedule their busy lives.\u00a0 In addition, please check Google Classroom for assignments that may be posted by classroom teachers.<\/span><\/p>\n Grades will be posted on PowerSchool.\u00a0 Please work with your children and partner with us in checking assignments and grades so that everyone stays up to date on work.\u00a0 We will send home paper report cards twice a year.\u00a0 One will go home after the second quarter and the final report card will go home after the fourth quarter.\u00a0 Families will receive notifications when mid-quarter grades are posted and quarterly grades are finalized and you may check grades as often as you would like.<\/span><\/p>\n Please note that if you ever have any questions regarding grades, an event that took place in class, or you just want to share information; please contact your child\u2019s teacher directly.\u00a0 If you would like to schedule a meeting with your child\u2019s teachers then you may arrange to do so through a grade level team leader.\u00a0 We encourage you to do this at any point of the school year.\u00a0 Please see below for a list of each grade level team leader.<\/span><\/p>\n Grade 5 \u2013 Lauren Soprano – lsoprano@pvcsd.org<\/span><\/p>\n Grade 6 \u2013 Lee Ann Johnson – ljohnson@pvcsd.org<\/span><\/p>\n Grade 7 \u2013 Wanda Diaz \u2013 <\/span>wdiaz@pvcsd.org<\/span><\/p>\n Grade 8 \u2013 Phyllis Conlin – pconlin@pvcsd.org<\/span><\/p>\n Please join our Putnam Valley PTA as they help to partner with us and support many events in our schools.\u00a0 We are looking forward to a continued relationship that brings experiences beyond our classrooms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To purchase a PTA membership, go to <\/span>https:\/\/putnamvalleypta.memberhub.com\/store<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n As always, if you have any questions\/concerns please reach out to the PTA at <\/span>putnamvalleypta@gmail.com<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n Mark Your Calendar<\/b><\/p>\n September 12th – 16th –<\/b> Fall iReady Assessments – More to come!<\/span><\/p>\n September 20th \u2013 Back to School Night 5<\/b>th<\/b> and 6<\/b>th<\/b> Grade 6:30 \u2013 9:00 <\/b>– More information to come!<\/span><\/p>\n September 21st – Back to School Night \u2013 7<\/b>th<\/b> and 8<\/b>th<\/b> Grade 6:30 \u2013 9:00 <\/b>– More information to come!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n September 26th & 27th <\/b>– Rosh Hashanah – School Closed<\/span><\/p>\n October 5th <\/b>– Yom Kippur – School Closed\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Please stay involved and partner with us in your child\u2019s educational journey.\u00a0 Contact us with any questions, feedback, or stop by and schedule an appointment to meet with us.<\/span><\/p>\n We look forward to an outstanding and exceptional year!<\/span><\/p>\n Sincerely,<\/span><\/p>\n Travis W.
