{"id":10155,"date":"2022-04-29T15:20:38","date_gmt":"2022-04-29T19:20:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=10155"},"modified":"2022-04-29T15:20:38","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T19:20:38","slug":"may-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/ms\/middle-school-letter\/may-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"May 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10156 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/MAY_BUTTERFLY.jpg\" alt=\"Butterfly on Flower - May\" width=\"250\" height=\"180\" \/>Dear PVMS Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">May is already here and we are starting to see flowers bloom, warmer temperatures, and many events on our calendar as things continue to open up.\u00a0 Please join us in finishing strong over these last two months of school.\u00a0 Children will be busy with activities outside of school, but this reminds us to stay on schedule and focus academically.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our middle school drama, \u201cHigh School Musical,\u201d took place over the weekend of April 22nd and both evening performances were outstanding.\u00a0 The show featured two different evenings of cast members and they gave it their all.\u00a0 We have so much talent among our student body and I would encourage you to talk to your children about trying something new if they have never tried acting or performing on stage.\u00a0 Ms. Kraus and Mrs. Torres-Craane as well as many other faculty members worked closely with our students for months to put on these performances.\u00a0 Congratulations to all that were involved and to our eighth graders moving on to the high school next year to share their gifted talents in this area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we continue into the fourth quarter, it is vital for our students to stay focused on their efforts toward their academic progress.\u00a0 Please note that our seventh and eighth graders will be taking final exams in June and that these will be summative measures for teachers to assess their progress for the entire year.\u00a0 In addition, we still have our Science 8 NYS assessment, Algebra I Regents, and our Checkpoint A exam for those in eighth grade Spanish.\u00a0 We are hopeful that our students continue to apply themselves, stay focused, and take advantage of opportunities that will strengthen their overall abilities.\u00a0 I want to thank all of those families of students who sat to take the NYS English Language Arts assessments and NYS Mathematics assessments.\u00a0 We use this data to help drive instruction and as a multiple measure for supports that students may need.\u00a0 These are always vital opportunities for students to show their knowledge and prepare for high school Regents exams that they will be taking in the near future, especially for our seventh and eighth graders.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>End of Year Details<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are still in the process of organizing end of the year details for our seventh and eighth grade final exams.\u00a0 These will take place during our school day.\u00a0 Our Eighth Grade Moving Up Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, June 23rd in our High School Performing Arts Center at 5:00PM.\u00a0 That same evening we will have a Moving Up Dance at Cortlandt Colonial at 7:00PM.\u00a0 We will have more detailed information as we draw nearer to these dates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Mark Your Calendar \u2013 We are Busy!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monday, May 2nd &#8211;
