Dear Parents and Students,

We are almost in the home stretch for the conclusion of this crazy year! We know this has been a very difficult time for families as everyone is dealing with varying degrees of stress due to illness, unemployment, homeschooling, etc. We have an outstanding counseling department at PVHS who is readily available if you need support for your child during this time.

This week we are officially halfway through the 4th quarter. Progress reports are posted. Please review your child’s comments carefully to ensure that he/she will pass all the necessary courses to move onto the next grade level.  A majority of teachers will begin reviewing material and working on smaller projects after May 29th enabling students to catch up on the 4th quarter owed work in order to be successful for the year. The lowest grade for the quarter that a teacher will give during this distance learning period is 55. Therefore, if your child is receiving a 55, this should signal to you that your child is not keeping up with his/her work. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s counselor if he/she is struggling with distance learning and we will help with all possible supports to finish the year as academically strong as possible.

Traditionally we hold several celebrations during June. Specifically, we hold PVHS Awards Ceremonies for each grade level and our Spotlight Awards Ceremony to recognize students with outstanding moral character. Unfortunately, during distance learning, we will be unable to hold face-to-face ceremonies. However, we have created a slideshow for each grade level announcing the award recipients. These short presentations are attached to this ConnectEd and will be posted on social media. Students will also receive their certificate and program in the mail next week. Please take a picture of your child with their award(s) and email them to me and I will happily post them on social media for everyone to view. I want to congratulate all recipients and commend each student for their dedication and commitment to their studies, their school, and their community.

As we get closer to the end of the school year, we will send additional information about laptop return, yearbook distribution as well as other items. We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience during this “stay at home” period. Every teacher and administrator feels a sense of loss without the students. They are our joy and the reason why we love to work in schools guiding students towards their future. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything to help you finish this year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sandra Intrieri
