Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

As we wrap up our fourth week of school, I want to thank you all for your cooperation and support of all we are doing to keep your children learning, growing, and striving for their learning goals.  Our PVES students are certainly amazing us every day, and on this busy blue and white PV Pride Day, we are feeling immense school pride.  Thank you for sharing your incredible children with us, both in school and from home!

Our Kindergarten and First Grade students are participating in Mandarin Lessons each week, provided to us through Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES.  Thank you again to our PVEF (Putnam Valley Education Foundation) for making this Mandarin Program possible in the Putnam Valley Central School District this year.  We are sincerely grateful to the PVEF for all they do for our schools, and this Mandarin Program is just another example of how PV continues to lead the way.

Please join the Putnam Valley Education Foundation’s 1st Annual Social Distant Scavenger Hunt, tomorrow, Saturday, October 3rd, at 11 AM.  Thank you for supporting the wonderful work of the Education Foundation.  More information can be found at www.pvefny.org.

Thank you also to our PTA who facilitated the Remote Learner Picture Day today at PVES.  Although the weather was less than perfect, our students will have beautiful school pictures, and the PTA-donated water bottles were distributed.  Our School Picture make-up day will be held on Tuesday, November 17th.

A 15-minute mandated Early Dismissal will take place on Friday, October 9th.  Please make sure you mark your calendars to be at your bus stops early that day, or to pick up your children at school by 2:25 PM.  Thank you for making note of this.

Schools will be closed for Columbus Day on Monday, October 12th.

Today, we had a brief visit from our former Superintendent, Dr. Fran Wills.  Regent Wills enjoyed walking through our building and seeing all of the wonderful learning taking place.  It was so nice to see her, and our engaging classrooms made her so proud!

Enjoy the sunny fall weekend ahead!  October is off to a great start at PVES!

Fondly,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
