Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

I hope that you have all had a healthy, happy, and productive week…the first full week of January 2020! Our classrooms are buzzing with activity and learning, and the students are approaching the mid-point of a productive school year. Great learning and growth takes place at this time of year! Thank you for making sure your students are in school and on time every day. This always helps to establish the strongest foundation for learning.

Our Kindergarten families are invited to our Chinese New Year Celebration on Thursday, January 23rd, at 2:00 PM, in our ES Auditorium. At this event, we will share some highlights of our Mandarin pilot program that is being brought to us by Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. We look forward to a very special celebration, so please mark your calendars!

Our students continue to go outside every day for recess whenever possible. We haven’t had too much snow lately, so the children have even been able to play on our grassy playground. Please make sure that your child wears appropriate sneakers and warm clothes for the outdoors. This fresh air and exercise are so important.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the PTA West Point Hockey Game tonight at 7:00 PM. Be sure to wear your blue and white! We love coming together as a PV community at special events!

Schools will be closed on Monday, January 20th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, January 21st.

The Fourth Grade Winter Concert will be held on Wednesday, January 29th, at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium. We look forward to welcoming our fourth-grade families to this very special musical performance.

Enjoy the warm temperatures this weekend. It will be a great time for the children to play outside and enjoy creative play with family and friends. This is so important.

Thank you for all that you do. Together, we make a great team!

Fondly,
Ms. Podesta
