Dear Putnam Valley Community:
On Friday, August 7, Governor Cuomo announced that all New York State schools can reopen. This decision is based on infection rates that are below the thresholds set by New York State. Local districts, under strict New York State Department of Health and New York State Education Department guidelines, have developed plans to reopen schools. Please review the Putnam Valley Central School District’s Reopening Plan for details on how we plan to meet the guidelines and reopen schools on Tuesday, September 8:

Our reopening plan was a collective effort of our Re-Entry Task Force consisting of parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, public health officials, and our school physician. The reopening plan and presentation have already been shared with the community; we understand that these documents have resulted in new questions. To address these questions, we have scheduled three community meetings that will be held via Zoom. See information below.
The dynamic nature of this public health crisis requires us to remain flexible with our reentry planning; in some cases that may result in us not having the answer to every question at this time. Our planning and preparation for the reopening of schools will continue for the remainder of the summer, and we will work to get an answer to every question before that time.
