“I
loved making my pinch pot” - PVES Student |
What
if...
A
teacher, student or parent found a new program or a piece of equipment
but the district couldn’t fund it?
Our
Mission
To aid the district in it’s
pursuit of excellence in education by generating and distributing private
funds that will provide opportunities for innovative programs and projects.
Our
Beginning
The Putnam Valley Education
Foundation (PVEF) was established in 2003 by a group of community volunteers
who hoped to augment the educational opportunities in the Putnam Valley
Central School District.
How
We Work
Each year the funds raised
by the PVEF are used for educationally sound programs and projects that
cannot be funded by the district budget. Each spring, school administrators,
teachers, and parents or students with the support of their building administrator,
are encouraged to submit grant applications. The Foundation’s Grant
Committee reviews these applications and determines how best to allocate
funds based upon each applications overall value to the district.
"The
sustainability of any school foundation, whether it be Harvard or Putnam
Valley, is dependent upon the financial commitment of its alumni. While
large, individual gifts are often given the most press, it is the annual
commitment of former students that serve as the financial backbone of
any school foundation."
Dr. Marc Space
Superintendent of Schools
